The world of technology is not only advancing at a rapid rate, it is also becoming increasingly more mobile. This means more smartphones, more laptop computers, and more importantly, a rise in the popularity of tablet PCs. For the uninitiated, a tablet PC is a miniature, mobile computing device that runs on a touchscreen interface. Most tablet PCs run on the popular Android, iOS, BlackBerry or Windows 7 mobile operating systems. As mobile-based operating systems improve, the production of tablet PCs is likely to increase over time. Finding tablet deals can be a daunting prospect, and cheap tablets with good user ratings are even harder to come by. Here are some tablet reviews to help you navigate the confusing world of tablet PCs.


Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy tablet runs on the Google Android operating system. The tablet features a 7-inch screen, a 1 GHz ARM processor chip, Swype keyboard technology and about 2 GBs of internal flash memory storage. The device sells at $200 to almost $600 depending on the specifications of each version of the tablet PC.

iPad

The wildly popular iPad tablet computer has released to versions of the device so far, iPad and iPad 2. Originally released in 210, the device has outsold every other device on the market. Depending the version of iPad you purchase, the device can run you anywhere from $499 and $800. The latest version of the iPad 2 comes in 16, 32, and 64 GB versions. The tablet boasts a 9.7-inch screen, a 1 GHz A5 dual-core processor chip, a 720p HD video camera, and an external and internal digital camera for easy photo-taking.

Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire was designed in response to the growing popularity of tablet PCs and the declining popularity of e-book readers. So, Amazon took a cue from the leading tablet PC manufacturers, while implementing the popular Kindle reader application into the tablet's design. The Kindle Fire runs on the Android operating system, features a large viewing screen and access to thousands of apps, movies and music in the Android market. The Kindle Fire currently sells for $199.

HP TouchPad

Hewlett-Packard, the PC computer hardware development giant wasn't about to stay out of the tablet PC game. They designed a solid competitor in the table PC markec called the HP TouchPad. Unlike most other tablet PCs, the TouchPad does not run on Android or iOS. Rather, the device runs on WebOS, an operating system originally developed for Palm smartphones and PDAs. Like the iPad and Kindle Fire, the HP TouchPad runs on a 9.7-inch touchscreen, runs on a 1.2 or 1.5 GHz processor, and supports the use of both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. The differing models can hold between 16 and 64 GBs of internal flash memory. The device currently sells for $499 or $599, depending on the specific model.

Motorola Xoom

One of the leading tablet PCs was designed and manufactured by the folks at Motorola. The tablet is called the Motorola Xoom, and sells at $499 for the Wi-Fi version, and $799 for the 3G version. The device runs on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb version of the operating system. The Xoom also features a large 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 1 GHz processor chip and 1 GB of internal SDRAM.
